Every year the Roswell location donates a machine to raise money for a local charity. This year the machine is a Baby Lock Imagine Serger and the local charity is the Chaves County Veterans. Please help us exceed last year's donations where we raised $1000 for the Roswell Refuge Shelter for Battered Adults!

For every $1 you donate, you receive one opportunity (entry) to win the serger. For every $5, you receive an extra opportunity (six for $5).

Chaves County Veterans Mission Statement

To honor the memory of the deceased veterans by providing funds necessary for opening and closing costs of gravesites and niches when families choose to have their loved ones buried in their hometown, where this is not a free option for the veterans. Further, our mission is to provide assistance to indigent veterans for burials and cemetery expenses upon their passing. In the process of fund raising, our purpose is to educate and promote patriotism.

Little Dresses for Africa collects handmade dresses from around the world and donates them to girls in Africa. As part of the Behind the Seams event, you’ll sew a dress for you to donate.

National Sew A Jelly Roll Day

If you’re a quilter, you collect fabric. You may also collect “pre-cuts”, those tempting packages of many pieces of fabric already cut for you into charming sizes. They’re so popular, there is even a special lingo associated with them – layer cakes and dessert rolls, honey buns and jelly rolls.

Recent studies have shown that many quilters collect these pre-cuts without knowing what to do with them, without having a purpose. The Jelly Roll in particular is left in it’s original packaging and stacked on the shelf to gather dust. Despite a huge resource of inspiration, many quilters report that they’re waiting for a special reason to break out the Jelly Roll and use it for a project.

That’s where Project Jelly Roll and the National Sew A Jelly Roll Day come in. Moda Fabrics United Notions has designated the 3rd Saturday in September – September 16, 2017 – as National Sew A Jelly Roll Day to encourage collectors to tear open a Moda Jelly Roll and make something for themselves, as a gift or for charity! It can be a quilt or a tote bag, a pillowcase or something to wear, it doesn’t matter so long as we seize the day and celebrate the joy of being a maker.

There are going to be all kinds of projects to share from fast, easy and fun to “a little bit more going on”. And of course, we expect there will be a race or two, a few giveaways and plenty of silliness.

So start dusting off your Jelly Rolls and let’s get rolling!

September is International Sewing MOnth and to celebrate, Sew Easy Sewing will join other independent sewing machine retailers throughout North America in offering customers to opportunity for a wide range of savings.

Sew Easy Sewing Studio in Virginia will be hosting the Days for Girls Occoquan VA team!

The Days for Girls Occoquan VA Team is just getting started with an amazing opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of girls and women around the globe with lasting feminine hygiene kits. Meetings will be held at the Sew Easy Sewing Studio located at 203 Washington Street, Occoquan, VA.

Please note:

Previous Days for Girls experience is NOT required prior to attending a meeting and you do not need to know how to sew (we can show you how if that interests you).

The Sew Easy Sewing Studio meeting space is limited so you must sign up to attend. Sign up information will be used exclusively to communicate Days for Girls meeting information and updates. By signing up to attend one meeting, you are under no obligation to attend any future meetings. Meetings can range from 1-4 hours depending on the focus. Initially, our meetings will focus on organizing resources and training team members on the specific instructions for creating the Days for Girls feminine hygiene kit components (i.e. quality control, use of proper fabrics in proper prints and colors, precise construction -- these things are incredibly important).
